A 10 year British government study found that chiropractic care is twice as effective and safer than medical care for back pain.
An Italian government study using 17,142 patients showed that chiropractic care reduced hospitalization by 87.6% and work loss by 75.5%.
A Canadian university medical center study utilizing chiropractic care got 87% results within 2-3 weeks with a group of 171 medically unresponsive patients who had been suffering for 7 years.
Another Canadian government study, the famous Magna Report, found that chiropractic is not only “superior” and more cost effective than medicine, but safer. The study cautioned the Ontario Ministry of Health against many of the “untested, questionable or harmful” medical treatments and preferred chiropractic care over medical care. It further recommended chiropractors act as “gate keepers” in all hospitals directing the appropriate care of back cases.
A Chicago study of two competing hospitals showed that one hospital’s orthopedic ward using chiropractic care was sending patients home 7-9 days sooner than the other hospital using just medical care. Dr. Per Freitag, a leading orthopedist who was on staff at both hospitals attributed the shorter hospital stays to be entirely due to the chiropractic care.
AVMED (an HMO), sent 12 patients who were medically diagnosed as needing disc surgery to a chiropractor. The chiropractor corrected all 12 cases, saving the HMO major costs and possible surgical complications.
Mosby Press, the medical literary giant, reported in one of their scientific journals that chiropractic care out-performed Advil, Tylenol, and Asprin for the relief of headache pain. The same journal later reported that chiropractic care is more than 400 times safer than taking those same over-the-counter drugs.
In the now infamous Hendryson Report, Dr. Irvin Hendryson, a member of the American Medical Association board of trustees, did a clinical comparison study between medicine and chiropractic in a US Army field hospital during WWII. His conclusions:
• That chiropractic had impressive results were medicine had failed. • That chiropractic was as effective as some of the best medical treatments available. • And that chiropractic should be an integral part of all US Army orthopedic wards.
